One of the main highlights of this action-packed weekend trip is to head out on an early morning safari in the renowned Udawalawae National Park. Sri Lanka has been voted the best safari destination outside of Africa, with elephants, monkeys, leopards, bears, crocodiles, and more other animals.

The structured weekend trip will ensure you see as much of Sri Lanka as possible. You will be transported by private vehicles to maximize comfort and to ensure your safety . A member of the team will accompany you throughout the trip, and English-speaking guides will show you around all of the sites, so you get to fully appreciate their history and cultural significance.
Each weekend trip leaves on a Saturday morning and returns on a Sunday evening. ( as we give priority to your clinical attachment more than anything else ) Costing includes into your placement fee. The following are provide by Medexplore for all students during weekend trips .

Itinerary
Day 1 Galle Fort
This action-packed long weekend will start by heading to the historic walled town of Golle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will an hour or two in the morning explore in this exotic all-trading fort that has ancient mosques, churches, grand mansions, and of course the famous lighthouse. After we will make the short journey to the beach resort town of Mirissa. This picture-postcard beach is the perfect setting for some lunch and to climb on top of a parrot clock to enjoy the views. The day is not over yet though, as we start to head inland, we will stop at the Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe This is your chance to see anywhere up to 50 babies of an elephant being fed at this amazing facility, the one and only ethical sanctuary on the island. The elephants are free to roam a large proportion of the national park and human contact is kept to an absolute. After a busy day, we will check into the nearby hotel. You will be able to enjoy leisurely hotel facilities and include in swimming
Day 2 Udawalawe Safari
One of the highlights of the weekend is a morning safari in Udawalawe National Park. Famous for having a herd of around 250 elephants, the national park is one of the most visited in the whole country. After hopefully seeing lots of animals, you will get the chance to catch up on some sleep as we are returning to Colombo.
Accommodation
Over the course of the weekend, you will be staying in hotel or guest houses. All of the accommodation will be comfortable and perfect for getting a good night’s rest. Rooms will be on shared basis most of the time. Two volunteers may be required to share a double bed , depending on availability. You will have all of the amenities you need, such as western toilet, hot water and Wi-Fi .
Meals
You will be provided with three meals per day throughout the weekend trip. Meals will generally be local Sri Lankan cuisines and served at either the guest house or local restaurant. Additional drinks are not provided and will need to be purchased at your own expenses, but basic requirements like water and a juice will be provided
Transport
You will travel around Sri Lanka by private vehicle, depending on the group size. This may be either a large bus or a smaller van.
This weekend will encompass three UNESCO World Heritage Sites and allow you to learn all about Sri Lanka’s rich culture and history. Start the trip with Pinnawala elephant orphanage and We will climb the spectacular Citadel of Lion’s Rock, perhaps Sri Lanka’s single most extraordinary site, and complete our trip by visiting the world-famous city of Kandy. Temple of Tooth Temple of Tooth is a historical Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka. You should not miss it when you visit Sri Lanka. Also, on the way, you will get the chance to visit Spice Plantation in Matale. The action-packed weekend trip will provide something new and exciting every day.

Itinerary
Day 1 Pinnawala, Sigiriya
We will spend early morning hours in the Elephant Orphanage situated at Pinnawala, Kegalle. You will be able to get an opportunity to see baby elephant feeding. Leaving from Elephant Orphanage, we will rush to Sigiriya to climb Lion’s Rock, also known as Mount of Remembrance. We will get to climb and explore the wonders of this former cultural capital that is built on top of 180-meter-high granite rock known as Lion’s Rock. After enjoying wonders in Sigiriya, we have an amazing opportunity to visit another World Heritage Site, Royal cave temple. This amazing temple has five separate caves with 150 Buddha statues.
End of the day will reach to Kandy city and do night round.
Day 2 Kandy
This is a world heritage city in Sri Lanka. We will visit temple of tooth relic during morning hrs. to witness wonderful historical, cultural value of this important Buddhist temple.
Next will be at Tea Museum and get more knowledge about the history. After lunch will return to Colombo and on the way will stop to visit Peradeniya Botanical Garden.
